In 2018, Col Michaud became the Commanding Officer of 8 Wing Mission Support Squadron and he subsequently assumed the position of Director of Coordination within the Vice Chief of Defence Staff Group in 2020.Ĭol Michaud is a graduate of the Joint Command Staff Program and has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Defence Studies. He was the Deputy Commandant and chief instructor at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering from 2013 to 2015 and his staff appointments included an assignment as A4CE at 1 Canadian Air Division. Over his career, Col Michaud was posted to various Construction Engineering Units as Officer Commanding 143 Airfield Engineer Flight, 14 Wing Requirements Officer and CFB Borden Construction Engineering Officer. He later deployed on operation IMPACT in the Middle East, in 2019 as the Air Task Force Commander with detachments from the Tactical Aviation and Air Mobility Communities. His operational tours include deployments to Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 20 where he served as the Task Force Engineer Infrastructure Advisor and the Construction Management Organization second in command respectively. His career has encompassed various postings within the RCAF and the Joint Environment, having had the privilege to lead aviators, soldiers, and sailors at the Element, Squadron, Air Task Force and Support Component levels. The Grey and Simcoe Foresters cleared the land, and in the summer of 1916 Camp Borden was officially opened by Sir Sam Hughes, the Minister of Militia and Defense. Known at the time as “Sandy Plains”, the ground was designated as a new training grounds for Canadian Expeditionary Force battalions destined for over-seas duty. CFB Borden was created to train more troops for Canada’s contribution to the First World War.
